Minor Burns

Since complications can occur in even the smallest burns, be sure to follow the physicians instructions carefully.

Home Treatment:

  • All burns require medical follow - up. Be sure to keep your return appointment no matter how you feel.
  • If you notice any sign of infection - fever, yellow pus, or a foul smell - see physician immediately.
  • Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, you may wash the burn daily with soap and water and then re-dress it with the ointment.
  • Please take the medications as directed.
  • As the burn heals, the skin and joints nearby can become stiff. To loosen them you should exercise the joints and muscles around your burn as soon as healing begins.
