Infants/Children With High Fevers
- Be sure to take the medication provided by Doctor as instructed.
- Encourage the child to drink plenty of fluids (any kind). If vomiting
occurs, give fluids in small, frequent amounts rather than large amounts at any
one time.
- If the child vomits a dose of medicine, wait a few minutes and give
another dose.
- Unless otherwise instructed, give the child liquid
Tempra/Pandol (as
instructed on bottle) every 6 hours for 2 days until the antibiotic or
medication given to you by the physician has a chance to produce results.
- Most medications take 48 hours to produce improvement. If no improvement
is occurring after that time, please return to your physician.
- Mild vomiting and diarrhea in babies will often be improved by changing
them from their usual feed to Pedialyte for 24-48 hours.
- Keep the child indoors for 48 hours.
