For Prospective Students

OHTC teaches not only self-defense skills, but also concerns itself with the complete personal development of each student.  Individual attention is a cornerstone of each class, allowing the students to progress quickly and easily toward their personal goals.

There is no experience of greater value than studying within the OHTC system.  We offer life-changing education of unmatched quality through proper philosophy and techniques of physical and mental self-mastery.  Studies include traditional marital arts, Eastern medicine, philosophy, traditional tea, Baduk, and many other traditional health and life practices.  All classes are conducted under the leadership of Grandmaster Song.

Be warned, there are no current regulations for teaching the martial arts.  Anyone can open a school and teach.  Recognize our quality!  OHTC teaches from beginner to Master levels, and preserves traditional teachings as they were intended to be passed down … as a treasure!

We realize that each student possesses different physical attributes and abilities.  Through acquiring a strong foundation in the basics, our program will enhance your personal physical and mental capabilities, as well as maximizing your self-defense skills.

Our instructors are dedicated to helping you progress as rapidly as you need.  When you first walk into our school you will notice that the students all wear different colored belts presenting rank.  This is part of the martial arts tradition and is used to indicate the level of accomplishment and mastery of skills.

OHTC recommends 2 - 3 classes per week, with a minimum of 2, plus a certain amount of practice time in between classes as the optimal level of training.  Two classes per week, the student must attend the school.  One class is from online instruction.

OHTC Martial Arts School does not teach all the Martial Arts as one; rather, we teach all orthodox styles separately, style by style, with traditional concepts, from beginners to experts. All Classes are taught by Grand Master Edward Song and his Assistant Instructors.  OHTC teaches only select students; an interview is required before a new student is accepted into the school.

More Information on Lessons

Time to progress through the levels varies; it all depends on the individual:  To achieve the level of black belt or sash requires tremendous dedication. A black belt is not just a sign of physical accomplishment, but also mental and philosophical development. It should represent someone who shows a deep commitment to martial arts, strives to be a well-balanced person both mentally and physically, and practices martial arts as a part of their everyday life. Each student is different and has a different level of skill. Therefore, it is unfair to designate a specific time limit to achieve a black belt.

Optimal amount of training:  OHTC recommends 2 - 3 classes per week, with a minimum of 2, plus a certain amount of practice time in between classes.

When to start:  There is no special time for your program to start.  If you are accepted into the school, you may start your training that same day.  We offer several types of programs for you to choose from.

Selecting the right school:  There are many Martial Arts schools to choose from.  However, certain martial arts lessons can be a waste of time, energy and money!  Time is gold, and Knowledge is Power!  Finding the right school to learn the right way of martial arts is very important for physical, mental and character development.

Classification of Faculty Members:  An instructor under 3rd degree black belt teaches regular classes. An instructor above 3rd degree black belt teaches regular and accelerated classes.  The Master supervises and teaches in all programs. Intensive lessons are taught directly by the Master.

No Contract Policy:  Monthly Payment Without Any Obligations!   We do not require or use any contract for lessons.  We do not want to limit your freedom of decision, nor ours. A student can quit anytime.  If you find this is not the school that you are looking for, and we feel the student does not belong in the school, then we may honestly say: "You do not fit in our school." Therefore, all classes are conducted in the best conditions for the benefit of both sides.  A full month's tuition is due before the beginning of each new month.  Tuition is paid on a month by month basis without any contract.

Initial Stat Up Cost: $140 for all new students, which includes the uniform, belt/sash, patches (2), text books (4), first year's annual membership fee of $40.
